When it comes to camping, there are many activities one can enjoy. Heading into the great outdoors with friends and family provides a wide open range of recreational activities. Obviously, we go to have a good time and enjoy nature

Whether you go to hike, bike, climb, camp, raft, fish, hunt, four-wheel, or just sleep and eat in the outdoors, it can be taxing on nature if precautions are not taken. All who go into the backwoods to enjoy God's creation share a responsibility with humanity and nature. There are certain things that must be done to ensure the future of recreation in the great outdoors. Here are some things for you to consider.

- If you carry it in, carry it out. This will eliminate litter. In fact, leave it cleaner than you found it.

- Do not contaminate the water. Use bio-degradable products for dishwashing, bathing and clothes washing. Dispose of waste water far away from natural water sources.

- Be considerate of other campers. Don't be loud and always keep your pets on a leash. Clean up after pets and don't leave them unattended.

- Respect the environment. Do not damage trees and shrubs. Do not put nails or wires into them. This can cause permanent damage.

- Stay on designated trails to help keep damage to vegetation and erosion in one place.

- Before leaving, police the area to make sure you leave a clean campsite. Take care of the fire pit.

So, to sum it up, when you go camping, leave no evidence that you were there. Again, leave nature the way you found it, but if you can do anything to improve it, such as picking up other peoples' trash, do it. Dispose of waste properly. Respect wildlife and be considerate of other visitors.

Discover the rewards of responsible recreation. Responsible recreation means having the common sense and courtesy to enjoy the outdoors without spoiling someone else’s experience. Have a good time when you’re outdoors, but be considerate.
