Modern conveniences have taken a lot of the 'roughing it' out of camping. That's not to say the you can't load up the backpack, hike deep into the woods and set up camp. That may be your style, and it certainly is 'close to nature.' But maybe you are the type who likes to get out of the city and still have conveniences. If that's you, there are other campsite offerings available.
Whether you want to stay close to home, or travel for some distance, there are camp sites available for everyone. Most state and national parks and forests offer facilities, as do many local parks.
Unless you plan on going in an RV (Recreational Vehicle) , you will still need the usual supplies; tents, sleeping bags, cooking utensils, etc. But many other accomodations are often available to you; restrooms, showers, cooking areas, playgrounds and such.
If you like to camp by yourself, or in small groups, you may not have a need for these accomodations. But if you plan on taking the family, you might want to look into them.
In the parks and forests that are camper friendly you will usually find restrooms, showers, picnic tables, grills, electrical hook-ups and other things to make camping easy. Access is usually not a problem because the campgrounds and roads are maintained. Pricing can be as low as a few dollars a night. That's a real bargain!
When you are camping in state and national parks, there are usually other people (other campers, park rangers) not too far away. This provides a little bit of safety and help in emergencies.
So, take advantage of what is offered to you. Load up the friends and family and enjoy a trip to one of your nearby parks or forests and enjoy some camping, fishing, boating, swimming, hiking trails, volley ball, bird watching and wildlife photography.
